Sole Encounters: Reflection on the Feeling Fashion Podcast

In this episode of the Feeling Fashion Podcast, I joined host Adele Varcoe and fellow Footwear Research Networker Dr Ellen Sampson to explore how shoes shape and are shaped by human experience. Having known each other for nearly 15 years, this conversation allowed Ellen and me to explore our overlapping yet distinct research approaches to footwear's role in processes of identification and as mediators between bodies, environments, cultures, and societies.

Alexandra Sherlock

Alexandra is an academic in the School of Fashion & Textiles at RMIT University, Melbourne. Her research is situated in the field of material culture studies and focuses mainly on fashion, footwear, identity, embodiment and the theory of affordances. She was the postgraduate Researcher on the ‘If the Shoe Fits’ research project (2010-2013). In 2021 she relaunched the ‘If the Shoe Fits’ blog as the Footwear Research Network
